Kleberg Maternal Health Community Health Club
Kleberg Maternal Health Community Health Club (CHC) will start on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, with a pre-survey collection on the members’ knowledge on maternal health in partnership with Driscoll Children’s Specialty Center, Brownsville, TX. The Maternal Health CHCs is a ten (10) session curriculum on maternal health, normal pregnancy and common discomforts, nutrition, exercise, mental health, health maintenance, fetal development and common genetic tests, labor and delivery, newborn care, and postpartum care and contraception. Each session covers one topic and is designed to be approximately 1.5. hours (90 minutes). Expectant mothers of Cameron County may participate in the CHC as members of the club. The sessions will be led by an LRGV AHEC Community Health Worker/Promotora and she in addition to the CHC members, has pledged their commitment to complete all 10 sessions.
