Personal Statement:

Hazel Medellin began her career with MRGB-AHEC in 2011 and continues to be a valued member of the AHEC team.  Her superior skills in performing the duties in support of the vital roles as the conference coordinator and accounting coordinator are equally important and contribute greatly to the success of the Mid Rio Grande Border AHEC programs in the region. She is responsible for various continuing education programs offered for health care providers, educators, law enforcement personnel and social service providers in Dimmit, Duval, LaSalle, Jim Hogg, Webb, and Zapata counties. Hazel earned her Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences Degree from Texas A&M University-Kingsville. She is a Certified Community Health Worker Instructor and a graduate from of the Texas A&M Health Science Center National Community Health Worker Training Center. She is a recent graduate of the non-profit business program offered by the Laredo Chamber of Commerce. She is a certified Community Health Worker and holds certifications in non-profit management, CPR, Community Emergency Response, and Youth Mental Health First Aid. ​
