MRGB-AHEC & LULAC Veterans Council 777 Present Scholarships
On July 25, 2017, the LULAC Veterans Council 777 along with the MRGB-AHEC gathered at the American Legion Post 59 to present educational scholarships to students from various high schools in the community of Laredo, Texas. The scholarship program is one of the projects being undertaken by the LULAC Veterans Council 777 to help support educational benefits for veterans and their families. Seventeen young adults desiring a higher education in various fields, accompanied by family members, were recognized for their educational achievements, and most importantly, for their ambition to improving their educational status and aiming high to help improve their quality of life. Keynote speaker LULAC National President, Roger Rocha, addressed the guests and students and acknowledged that commitment and perseverance are key in meeting goals that may lead to a lifelong of great accomplishments that will provide for a brighter future. Those receiving scholarships were congratulated by Ms. Julie Bazan, MRGB-AHEC Executive Director and President of the LULAC Veterans Council 777, and remarked “…these beautiful minds are our future and we must do all that is within our reach to encourage, support and motivate each individual to excel beyond their own expectations”. The scholarships are awarded to assist students and encourage them to pursue a college education.
