Annual Meeting of the Minds Neuroscience Conference

The 6th Annual Meeting of the Minds Neuroscience Conference was held on September 30, 2017, at the Solomon Ortiz International Conference Center. Physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and occupational therapists received five (5) hours of continuing education from South Coastal AHEC. Over seventy-five attendees participated in discussions of emerging treatments for neurologic diseases and spine disorders. The keynote speaker, Suzette M. Chopin, Ph.D., MBA, spoke on “Can Your Patient Make that Choice? Ethical Considerations & Recommendations for Interdisciplinary Teams”. Also included in the speaker platform was Drs. William J. Meurer and Darin B. Zahuranec from the University of Michigan that spoke on research findings from the National Institute of Health, Stroke Project which has been ongoing since 2007 in South Texas. South Coastal AHEC and CHRISTUS Health Systems have been partnering together to bring interdisciplinary continuing education to health professionals in the area for the past ten years.
