Lower Rio Grande Valley AHEC

History: Since 1990, the Lower Rio Grande Valley Area Health Education Center (LRGV AHEC) has championed underserved communities across South Texas’ vibrant tapestry. As a non-profit, we bridge the gap between research and action, guiding healthcare programs informed by evidence.

Over 80 grants fuel initiatives empowering communities:
• Nurturing future healthcare leaders: Interprofessional training fosters collaboration and prepares students for diverse settings.
• Building a strong workforce: Community health workers receive vital certifications, becoming catalysts for positive change.
• Delivering knowledge: Continuing education programs keep healthcare professionals at the forefront of best practices.
• Creating bridges: A robust network of community stakeholders amplifies voices and addresses pressing needs.
• Advocating for a healthier tomorrow: We stand as champions for equitable access to quality healthcare.

Our bilingual staff are the heart of our reach. We invest in our continued education, transforming it into cultural bridges, and translating knowledge into action. One insightful conversation at a time, we pave the way for a thriving LRGV AHEC region, where health and hope flourish for all.

Mission: Empower South Texas communities to thrive through health! Cultivating assets and dismantling barriers by providing education, training, networking opportunities, and knowledge dissemination.
